Add indoline-2,3-dione (1g, 6.87mmol) to a 100ml round bottom flask, add an aqueous solution (7.2ml) of KOH (3.6g, 54.4mmol), stir for 5 minutes and add 12ml Acetone was heated to reflux overnight. After the reaction was completed, the pH was adjusted to between 5 and 6 with 1N HCl. A solid precipitated, and the product was filtered to obtain 666 mg, with a yield of 52%.
