p-Bromophenol (92 g, 536 mmol) was placed in a three-neck flask, then acetylchloride (46 g, 590 mmol) was added dropwise slowly at 0 . The mixture was stirred at room temperature for 2 h. The temperature was rised to 130 , and aluminium chloride (128 g, 965 mmol) was added in portions. Then the mixture was stirred and 130 for 2 h. After the reaction was completed, to the reaction mixture was added ice-water, and the resulting mixture was extracted with ethyl acetate. The organic layer was dried over anhydrous sodium sulfate and the solvent was removed to give a white solid (99 g) , yield: 87%.[0942]MS-ESI: m/z 215.1 [M+H]+.
