A mixture of tert-butyl 4-hydroxypiperidine- 1 -carboxylate (5 g, 24.84 mmol, 1.00 equiv) and HC1 (saturated solution in 30 mL of 1 ,4-dioxane) was stirred for 2 h at room temperature. The resulting mixture was concentrated under vacuum to afford the title compound (3.4 g, 99%) as an off- white solid.
