Steps:

3.2. General Procedure for the Synthesis of Nitroarenes
General procedure: A round-bottomed flask was charged with a magnetic stirrer, Cu(NO3)2*3H2O (0.7 mmol), arylboronic acid (0.5 mmol), ethyl acetate (1 mL), and CF3COOH (1 mL) and the mixed solution was stirred for 3 h under air at 100°C. The reaction progress was monitored by TLC. After completion of the reaction, saturated brine (4 mL) was added to the resulting solution, and the target product was extracted with ethyl acetate (3×5 mL). The combined organic phase was dried over anhydrous Na2SO4 and filtrated, solvent was removed on a rotary evaporator, and the product was purified by thin layer chromatography using petroleum ether as eluent.
