Steps:
1 Preparation of 4,6-diphenyl-2H-pyran-2-one (3a)
General procedure: Weigh 0.11mmol Substituted phenyl ethanone-2-pyridinium bromide salt 2, 0.02mmol nitrogen heterocyclic carbene catalyst 0.12mmol potassium carbonate (K2CO3) as a base. Add to a 10mL Schlenk reaction tube equipped with a magnetic stir bar, add 1.5mL of solvent tetrahydrofuran (THF), then add 0.10mmol substituted phenyl cinnamaldehyde 1, gently shake the reaction wall to mix it well. Close the bottle cap and place in an oil bath at 30 ° C to fully stir the reaction for 12h. After the reaction was monitored by TLC, spin dry, load, and separate by column chromatography.
