2.3 Catalytic studies
General procedure: In a typical experiment, a 20 mL sample vial was charged with a certain amount of desired catalyst followed by 1.1 mmol of epoxide and 3 mL of alcohol. The reaction was stirred using magnetic stir bar at ambient temperature (396 K ± 2 K). The reaction mixture was withdrawn at regular intervals and injected into a gas chromatograph (HP 5890, FID detector and DB-5 capillary column) to monitor the progress of the reaction. Reactant conversion was calculated with respect to epoxide since alcohols were used in excess as the solvent and nucleophile.
