2.8. Phenylsulfonylation (Procedure H)

General procedure: To a solution of alcohol in DCM was added SOCl₂ (1.5 equiv) dropwise at 0 °C. After being stirred for 30 min, the mixture was evaporated to remove excess amount of SOCl₂ and directly used for the next step. NaSO₂Ph was added to the crude compound in DMF at 0 °C and the mixture was warmed to room temperature. After being stirred for overnight, the mixture was extracted with EtOAc, dried over MgSO₄, and concentrated under reduced pressure. The residue was purified by flash column chromatography on silica gel to afford the corresponding phenylsulfonyl product.
