410 Intermediate 410B: 2-bromothiazole-4-carboxylic acid
To a solution of ethyl 2-bromothiazole-4-carboxylate (10.5 g, 44.5 mmol) in methanol (150 mL) was added 10% NaOH (45 mL, 44.5 mmol) dropwise at 0 °C. The reaction mixture was stirred at 0 °C for 2 h. The reaction mass was concentrated under vacuum to remove volatiles, aqueous layer was acidified with 1.5 N HC1 to pH 4-5, the solid precipitated was filtered and dried to get 2-bromothiazole-4-carboxylic acid (8.7 g, 41.4 mmol, 93 % yield) as a white solid product. LCMS retention time 0.33 min [C]. MS (E-) m/z: 208.0 (M+2H).
