To a solution of 3-METHANESULFONYLOXY-AZETIDINE-1-CARBOXYLIC acid tert-butyl ester (540 mg, 2. 15 MMOL) in DMF (3 ml) was added NaN3 (0. 279 g, 4. 29 MMOL). The mixture was heated at 85 C. After 48 hours, the mixture was allowed to cool and diluted with diethyl ether (50 ML). The organic layer was washed with H20 (2 x 250 ml) and brine (25 ML), dried over MgS04, filtered, and concentrated in vacuo to afford 425 mg of a yellow oil in 100% yield, which was used without further purification.
