EXAMPLE 32 Synthesis of N-allyl-pyrrolidone (abbreviated as "ALPD") To a liquid mixture of 60 wt. % sodium hydride (40.0 g, 1.00 mol) and THF (600 mL), 2-pyrrolidone (85.1 g, 1.00 mol) was added at internal temperatures of from 24 to 33° C. over 1 hour or longer, maintained at 60° C. for 2 hours. After cooling, allyl bromide (121.0 g, 1.00 mol) was added dropwise to the mixture at internal temperatures of from 30 to 35° C. over 1 hour or longer, maintained at 45° C. for 2 hours. The thus-obtained reaction mixture was filtered, the filtrate was concentrated under reduced pressure, and the remaining concentration residue was purified by chromatography on a silica gel column. As a result, N-allyl-pyrrolidone (ALPD) of 97% purity was obtained in an amount of 75.3 g (0.58 mol, pure yield: 58%/pyrrolidone).
