2 General Procedure for the Reduction of Ketones
General procedure: To a 25 ml round bottom flask containing 5 ml N,N-dimethylformamide, was added 1-hydrosilatrane (0.263 g, 2.0 mmol), and ketone (1.0 mmol). The resulting solution was stirred for 1 minute, after which 1 M t-BuOK in THF (1.0 mmol, 1.0 ml) was added. Reaction mixture was allowed to stir for 30 min. Reaction was quenched with 25 ml 3 M HCl, and extracted with 30 mL ethyl acetate. Organic layer was washed with brine (50 ml×3), and dried with anhydrous sodium sulphate. After filtration, the solvent was removed under vacuum to yield product.
