Rhodamine B octadecyl ester perchlorate is a lipophilic energy transfer acceptor from lipophilic fluoresceins in fluorescence energy transfer (FRET) assays in cell fusion experiments. This compound is also used as a probe for measuring potassium in fiber-optic sensors.
