Leucokinin VIII is a peptide in white blood cell kinin, with a sequence containing 8 amino acids. It is a diuretic octapeptide obtained from cockroach head extract. Leucokinin VIII can increase the secretion rate of transepithelial NaCl, KC1, and water, and increase the Cl conductivity of epithelial shunts through receptors located on the outer basal surface of the epithelium. Leucokinin VIII can also activate the Ca2+dependent signaling pathway in the main cells of Aedes aegypti's Martensian tubules
