Description

Benfluorex Hydrochloride, benfluorex is a compound with hypolipidermic and hypoglycemic properties. In rat hepatocytes Benfluorex has been observed to reduce beta-oxidation rates and ketogenesis and gluconeogenesis from lactate/pyruvate at the concentrations of 0.1 or 1 mmol/L. Rat hepatocytes cultures in the presence of 10 or 100 μmol/L displayed decreased expression levels of CPT I, hydroxymethylglutaryl-CoA synthase and PEPCK genes encoding for enzymes in fatty acid oxidaton, ketogenesis and gluconeogenesis respectively.
