All Prestige Antibodies Powered by Atlas Antibodies are developed and validated by the Human Protein Atlas (HPA) project
(www.proteinatlas.org)and as a result, are supported by the most extensive characterization in the industry.
The Human Protein Atlas project can be subdivided into three efforts: Human Tissue Atlas, Cancer Atlas, and Human Cell Atlas. The antibodies that have been generated in support of the Tissue and Cancer Atlas projects have been tested by immunohistochemistry against hundreds of normal and disease tissues and through the recent efforts of the Human Cell Atlas project, many have been characterized by immunofluorescence to map the human proteome not only at the tissue level but now at the subcellular level. These images and the collection of this vast data set can be viewed on the Human Protein Atlas (HPA) site by clicking on the Image Gallery link. To view these
protocols and other useful information about Prestige Antibodies and the HPA, visit .
Allgemeine Beschreibung
This gene encodes a member of the Polycomb-group (PcG) family. PcG family members form multimeric protein complexes, which are involved in maintaining the transcriptional repressive state of genes over successive cell generations. This protein associates with the embryonic ectoderm development protein, the VAV1 oncoprotein, and the X-linked nuclear protein. This protein may play a role in the hematopoietic and central nervous systems. Two transcript variants encoding distinct isoforms have been identified for this gene. (provided by RefSeq)
Biochem/physiol Actions
Histone-lysine N-methyltransferase EZH2 is an enzyme encoded by the EZH2 gene in humans. It belongs to the multiprotein polycomb repressive complex 2. Enhancer of zeste homologue 2 (EZH2) is crucially involved in epigenetic silencing by acting as a histone methyltransferase. It is overexpressed in many cancers and is involved in malignant cell proliferation and invasion. EZH2 may be associated with senescence and apoptosis in gastric cancer. It may act as a valuable biomarker for the diagnosis and prognosis of gastric cancer. EZH2 may have function in regulation of gene transcription and chromatin structure.
