Manufacturing Process

42 parts β-dimethylaminoethyl ester hexamethylene biscarbamic acid in 350 parts of acetone was added to 100 parts methyl bromide. The reaction product was fallen after 24 hours at room temperature and was recrystallized from ethanol or a mixture of methanol and acetone to give 56.7 parts of choline bromide hexamethylenedicarbamate (hexacarbocholine bromide). Yield 87%. MP: 174°-176°C.
