When rats are given2,2',4,4' ,5-pentachlorodiphenyl ether (PCDE) orally, a total of
55% and 1.3% of administered dose is excreted in
feces and urine, respectively, in 7 days. More than
64% of the fecal radioactivity is due to unchanged
PCDE, while hydroxylated PCDE accounts for 23%.
Hydroxylation may occur on the phenyl ring bearing
two chlorine substituents.
