Dolichos biflorus (horse gram) is a heterotetrameric glycoprotein with a molecular mass of around 113 kDa. Dolichos biflorus agglutinin (DBA) is specific for terminal α-linked
N-acetyl-D-galactosamine (GalNAc). It is a dietary lectin.
Biochem/physiol Actions
Dolichos biflorus agglutinin (DBA) possesses binding activity for which it is used as a marker binucleate cells and can indicate the state of their differentiation. It serves as a label for primordial germ cells (PGCs), gonocytes, pre-spermatogonia and spermatogonia.
