Hazard Information | Back Directory | [Chemical Properties]
Di-C9-11 phthalate (D911P) is a mixture of C9 and C11
esters of phthalic acid where different alcohols can be
esterified to the same molecule of phthalic acid. It is a
colorless, oily liquid. D911P is only minimally
soluble in water (<0.1 mg/L). It has a neutral pH value. | [Uses]
D911P is used as a
plasticizer in vinyl formulations. Major end uses
include automotive vinyl, film, sheeting, and industrial
vinyl sealant. | [Definition]
ChEBI: Di-n-octyl phthalate is a phthalate ester and a diester. | [Production Methods]
D911P is commercially produced by catalyzed esterification
of phthalic anhydride with C9-11 alcohol blend utilizing
batch or continuous processes. The individual process steps
consist of a reaction step, excess alcohol removal,
drying, and filtration. The final product has a phthalate
ester content of well above 99.5%. | [Flammability and Explosibility]
Nonflammable |
