Hazard Information | Back Directory | [Chemical Properties]
Di-C7-11-phthalate (D711P) is a mixture of C7, C9, and C11
esters of phthalic acid where different alcohols can be
esterified to the same molecule of phthalic acid. It is a
colorless, oily liquid.
D711P is only minimally soluble in water (<0.1 mg/L). It has
a neutral pH value. | [Uses]
D711P is commercially produced by catalyzed esterification
of phthalic anhydride with C7-9-11 alcohol blend utilizing
batch or continuous processes. The individual process steps
consist of a reaction step, excess alcohol removal,
drying, and filtration. The final product has a
phthalate ester content of well above 99.5%. D711P is
used as a plasticizer in vinyl formulations. Major end
uses include automotive vinyl, film, sheeting, and industrial
vinyl sealant. | [Uses]
Dialkyl Phthalate (Alkyl=heptyl, nonyl, undecyl) can be used as a plasticizer. |
