(3) Step (C)To a tubular reactor made of metal (having a sectional area of 4.1 square centimeter) was packed 41 grams of a zirconium oxide catalyst (packed length: 10 cm), and then the hydrogenation catalyst-removed liquid obtained in the above (2) was fed in 320 g/hour and the temperature of the zirconium oxide catalyst layer was adjusted to 376 to 398° C.The conversion of 1-cyclohexylethanol at the reactor outlet was 45%, the selectivity of vinylcyclohexane was 84%, and the selectivity of ethylidenecyclohexane, which is a by-product, was 6%.
