EXAMPLE 4 Following the procedures outlined in Example 1, 150 g of 3-bromo-2,2 bis(bromomethyl)propyl alcohol, 3 g anhydrous magnesium chloride and 25 g phosphorus oxychloride were mixed in 300 ml tetrachloroethylene in a flask. The contents were heated at reflux temperature for 21 hours. Following the described cooling, filtering and drying, a dry white product of 130 g of tris(3-bromo-2,2 bis(bromomethyl)propyl) phosphate was obtained, making an 83 percent yield based on the tribromoneopentyl alcohol.
