4.7 5-Phenyl-N-(4-methylphenyl)thiazol-2-amine (22a)
To a solution of phenylacetaldehyde 22 (500mg, 4.16mmol) in CH2Cl2 (5mL), a solution of Br2 (697mg, 4.36mmol) in CH2Cl2 (4mL) was added dropwise. After consumption of the starting material according to TLC, the solvent was removed in vacuo having care not to heat the bath more than 20°C, so as to prevent the evaporation of the brominated compound.
