A.2.4.3 A.2.4.3 Synthesis of furo[2,3-c]pyridin-3(2H)-one
General procedure: A suspension of 3-hydroxyfuro[2,3-c]pyridine-2-carboxylic acid ethyl ester (10 mmol) in 10 mL 25% HCI solution and 5 mL H20 was heated to reflux overnight. After cooling to RT, the reaction mixture was quenched with sat. aq. NaHC03 solution and extracted with EtOAc. The combined organic layers were dried over MgS04 and concentrated in vacuo to give the desired product as brown solid; LC-MS (A): tR = 0.13 min; [M+H]+: 136.26.
