Step 1: To a mixture of K2CO3 (4.0 g, 28.94 mmol) and TBAHSO4 (240 mg, 0.70 mmol) in water (8 mL) at 0°C was added 13 (2.0 g, 11.48 mmol) in CH2Cl2 (8 mL). The resulting mixture was stirred at 0°C for 20 min, then 14 (1.3 mL, 12.85 mmol) was added and stirred again for 3 h. The organic layer was separated, washed with water (2×5 mL) and saturated brine (5 mL). The CH2Cl2 layer was dried over anhydrous Na2SO4, filtered and concentrated in vacuo. The crude residue was purified by flash chromatography eluting with 0-100% EtOAc/hexane to obtain the target compound 15 (2.2 g, 86%) as a colorless gum.
