Steps:
259.1 Step 1: 3-Iodo-1H-indazol-5-amine
To a solution of 3-iodo-5-nitro-1H-indazole (1 g, 3.46 mmol) in H2O (8 mL) and EtOH (24 mL) was added Fe (966.08 mg, 17.30 mmol) and NH4Cl (925.36 mg, 17.30 mmol) and the mixture was stirred at 80 °C for 0.5 hr. The reaction was then filtered and the filtrate was concentrated to afford a residue. The residue was diluted with H2O (30 mL) and extracted with EtOAc (20 mL × 3). The combined organic phases were dried with Na2SO4, filtered, and the filtrate was concentrated to afford the title compound (850 mg) as a yellow solid which was used without further purification. MS-ESI (m/z) calcd for C7H7IN3 [M+H]+: 259.9. Found 259.9.
