Steps:

5-Amino-1,3,4-thiadiazole-2-sulfonamide (3)
To suspension of acetazolamide (2) (5 g, 22.00 mmol), in EtOH was added Conc. HCl 4.94 mL and reaction mixture was refluxed for 4 hr. Solvent was evaporated, saturated NaHCO3 was poured slowly to the reaction mixture and compound was extracted by ethyl acetate. Ethyl acetate layer was washed with brine and was dried over Na2SO4, filtered and concentrated to obtained compound 3 in quantitative yield (3.96 g). 1H NMR (400 MHz, DMSO-d6) δ 8.05 (s, 2H), 7.80 (s, 2H); 13C NMR (100 MHz, DMSO-d6) δ 172.19, 158.41; HRMS (ESI+): m/z Calcd for C2H5N4O2S2 [M+H]+: 180.9854, Found: 180.9845.
