2.3. General procedure for synthesis of amides

General procedure: A mixture of alcohol (1 mmol), nitrile (1 mmol),CoFe2O4SiO2-DASA (0.1 g) was heated at 80°C under solvent-free conditions. The reaction process was monitored by thin layerchromatography (TLC). After completion of the reaction, the reaction mixture was cooled to room temperature and ethyl acetate(5 mL) was added. The catalyst was removed by using a magnetand washed with ethyl acetate. The combined organic layers weredried over anhydrous MgSO4, and the solvent was evaporated under reduced pressure. The pure product was obtained by column chromatography on silica gel using hexane/ethyl acetate as eluent.
