2.1 Ig (10.82 mmol, 1 eq.) of 4-(4-Nitro-phenyl)-butyric acid in THF was treated with 22 ml of 21.64 mmol, 2eq.) Borane-THF complex at RT and stirred for 1 hour. When TLC showed the reaction was complete, the reaction mixture was quenched with MeOH and H2O. the desired product was extracted with EtOAc and removal of the solvent to afford crude 3- (4-Nitro-phenyl)-propan-l-ol in 1.85 g (10.28 mmol, 95% yield), which was hydrogenised in MeOH under H2/Pd(C) condition to afford 1.61 g (10.66 mmol, 98.5 yield) of 3-(4-Amino- phenyl)-propan-l -ol.
