4.1.4 General procedure for the synthesis of triflates (GP4)

General procedure: The phenol (15a-f or 16a-f, 1.0 equiv) and 2,4,6-collidin (4.0 equiv) were dissolved in CH₂Cl₂ and cooled to 0 °C. At this temperature, triflic anhydride was added dropwise. The solution was stirred at rt until TLC control revealed completion of the reaction. After dilution with Et₂O, the mixture was washed twice with water, the organic layer was separated and the aqueous layer extracted with Et₂O. The combined organic layers were washed several times with satd CuSO₄ solution and dried over MgSO₄. Evaporation of the solvent gave the crude product.
