5. Deprotection of the Boc group
General procedure: The Boc protected amine was dissolved in p-dioxane (1-1.5 mL/g) and treated with 4 M HCl in dioxane (5 mL/gm) at rt for 3.5 h. Dry Et2O was added and the reaction mixture was filtered. The solid was washed with Et2O and dried under vacuum to give the amine hydrochloride.
