To a solution of commercially available (2-fluorophenyl)hydrazine hydrochloride (2 g, 12.34 mmol) and tert-butyl 4-oxopiperidine-1 -carboxylate (2.45 g, 12.34 mmol) in dioxane (20 ml_) was added concentrated H2SO4 (2 ml_), 0 °C. Then the reaction mixture was heated at 100°C for 4 h. After completion of the reaction (monitored by TLC), the reaction mixture was cooled to 25 °C and then concentrated. The crude mixture was basified by 10% NaOH solution and the precipitate was filtered off. The solid was washed with water and dried under vacuum to get the title compound (1 .7 g, 75%).MS: 191 .0 (M+H)+.
