1.3 General procedure for the synthesis of maleimide derivatives:
General procedure: a) A three-necked flask provided with a paddle-type stirrer, a reflux condenser, and a dropping funnel are placed and 2 moles of maleic anhydride was dissolved in ethyl ether (50 mL), then 2 moles of aniline were added through the dropping funnel. The resulting thick suspension is stirred at room temperature for 1 hour and is then cooled to 15-20 °C in an ice bath. The resulting maleanilic acid is obtained by suction filtration. b) 60 mL acetic anhydride and 4g anhydrous sodium acetate were placed in a 250 mL conical flask. The maleanilic acid obtained as described above, is added, and the resulting suspension is dissolved by swirling and heating on a steam bath for 30 minutes. The reaction mixture is cooled almost to room temperature in a cold water bath and is then poured into 1L of ice water. The precipitated product is removed by suction filtration, washed three times with ice-cold water and once with petroleum ether, and dried.
