Ziconotide, the peptide toxin of the Conus magus (cone snail) is a selective antagonist of N-type voltage sensitive calcium channels (VSCC). Blocks neurotransmitter release by preventing depolarization-induced calcium influx. Used as a ligand for binding studies of voltage sensitive calcium channels.
