The difference between glucose oxidase and glucose dehydrogenase in blood glucose detection
Release time: 2021-10-14
With the enrichment of material life, people's living standards are also increasing. The mood that used to eat a candy can be happy all day is nowhere to be found with the progress of the times. Nowadays, foods with high sugar content are eaten in large quantities by us. As a result, we have symptoms of high blood sugar at a young age. This is not a single case, but a common occurrence. So blood glucose testing has become a routine test in our lives. So what does this have to do with our glucose oxidase and glucose dehydrogenase?
Glucose oxidase and glucose dehydrogenase all know that they are related to glucose by their names. Their presence is a good way to detect the level of blood sugar, which can be prevented as soon as possible, so that we can improve before the body is more serious. What is the difference between them?
Glucose oxidase
It is very specific to glucose and will not react with maltose, lactose, or galactose in the blood. But as the name suggests, it works through "oxygen", so its reaction process must be affected by "oxygen". The "oxygen" mentioned here is not only the "oxygen" in the air, but also the "oxygen" in the blood. "Oxygen", so in some cases it will cause measurement deviation: after the test paper is opened, it is easy to react with oxygen in the air, and generally it can only be used for 3 months after opening. And it should not be put together with volatile substances such as alcohol, which will easily oxidize the test paper and affect the accuracy of the measurement. Patients with low blood oxygen saturation such as asthma, smoking, emphysema, respiratory failure, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease and various cardiovascular diseases, as well as patients after strenuous exercise, will cause the test if they use glucose oxidase test strips. The result is low.
Glucose dehydrogenase
It is not affected by "oxygen", so the test paper will not be oxidized by the "oxygen" in the air. The test paper can generally be used for the indicated expiration date after it is opened, and the measurement result will not be affected by blood oxygen saturation. However, glucose dehydrogenase has poor specificity for glucose and is more susceptible to the influence of maltose, lactose, and galactose in the blood, resulting in high measurement values. Therefore, the glucose dehydrogenase test paper should be used carefully in the following situations: 1. Patients who use immunoglobulin or human immunoglobulin for intravenous injection. 2. Patients with galactosemia. 3. Patients with intravenous maltose injection.
Desheng is one of the manufacturers of enzyme preparations and has relatively rich experience in the development and production of enzyme preparations. In addition to providing glucose dehydrogenase and glucose oxidase, it can also provide raw materials for various advantageous enzyme preparations such as α-glucosidase, cholesterol oxidase, purine nucleoside phosphorylase, lactate dehydrogenase, and acetyl-CoA. The raw materials of enzyme preparations are mainly used as raw materials for detection kits.
