Emodin, a member of the anthraquinones family, is a resin that can be found in many plants, but is most often extracted from the rhubarb plant and Polygonum Cuspidatum. Some of the many potential uses of this substance include its use as a laxative, its ability to mitigate the impact of diabetes, and as a part of anti-cancer therapy. The main side effects of emodin are nausea, diarrhea, and damage to the liver or kidneys.

Emodin   Anthraquinones represent a large family of compounds having diverse biological properties. Emodin (1,3,8-trihydroxy-6-methylanthraquinone) is a naturally occurring anthraquinone present in the roots and barks of numerous plants, molds, and lichens, and an active ingredient of various Chinese herbs
Purposes : the goods can be used as a laxative, emodin despite theremoval of activity, but because the body susceptible to oxidation and,in fact, the removal of very minor role, if combined with the sugar into glycosides may play a role in the removal. Emodin-1-O-beta-D-glucosaminidase and emodin-8-O-beta-D-glucoside is the combination of glucose and emodin glucoside, is combining the two different positions,which exists in rhubarb.

4. Antibiotic Action: Emodin has the inhibitory action of Staphylococcus aureus, Staphylococcus aureus(S. aureus) and Pseudomonas aeruginosa.
