Agaricus bisporus is mostly born in spring, summer and autumn in grasslands, pastures and composts. The wild resources of Agaricus bisporus are mainly distributed in Europe, North America, North Africa and Australia, and in China, mainly in Xinjiang, Sichuan and Tibet.
Agaricus bisporus is edible and tasty, and it is a large scale and widely cultivated edible mushroom. It has a high protein content of 42% (dry weight), a rich variety of amino acids, and nucleotides and vitamins. Agaricus bisporus can also be used medicinally. It contains high amounts of tyrosinase, which is effective in lowering blood pressure. It can also be made into an adjuvant for pneumonia. In some countries, it has also been found to contain anticancer substances and broad-spectrum antibacterial agents against bacteria.
