Some extraction methods of rosemary extract
Steam distillation
Steam distillation is the most used method in the extraction of rosemary essential oil. Steam distillation can be simply divided into two kinds: one is to directly put the material to be extracted into a container filled with water, heated to boiling, then distillation, and finally get the necessary essential oil. The other requires the use of porous plate, water heating, the use of steam to distillation of raw materials, steam is condensed and separated after the substance is essential oil. Steam distillation in the process of use will be affected by solvent concentration, ratio of ingredients, distillation time and other factors, can be used to separate those high boiling point, insoluble in water essential oils.
Supercritical CO2 extraction
Supercritical CO2 extraction can also be called supercritical fluid extraction technology, this high-tech chemical separation technology originated in the 1970s. It works by using the fluid formed by CO2 and other substances in supercritical state to extract and separate the active components in plants.
Organic solvent extraction method
Organic solvent extraction method uses a certain compound. In two solvents that are insoluble to each other, or only a very small amount of substances will be dissolved, due to the difference in solubility and distribution coefficient, the compound is converted in the two solvents. After repeated extraction, more than 80% of the compound is extracted. Because of the low boiling point of these organic solvents, petroleum ether and diethyl ether, they are used to repeatedly and continuously reflux, or immersed in cold water, extract the active ingredients in rosemary, get the extract, and then remove the solvent by decompression distillation or direct distillation, you can get crude essential oil.
