該基因是聚集在9號染色體p臂上的幾個CC細胞因子基因之一。細胞因子是一個參與免疫調節(jié)和炎癥過程的分泌蛋白家族。CC細胞因子是以兩個相鄰半胱氨酸為特征的蛋白質。該基因編碼的蛋白質對皮膚相關記憶T淋巴細胞具有趨化性。這種細胞因子也可能在介導淋巴細胞歸巢到皮膚部位中發(fā)揮作用。它特異性結合趨化因子受體10（CCR10）。對類似小鼠蛋白質的研究表明，這些蛋白質-受體相互作用在T細胞介導的皮膚炎癥中起著關鍵作用。
