背景（Background）

SMN1主要由位于5q染色體端粒部分的SMN1基因產(chǎn)生。SMN1蛋白是一組稱為SMN復(fù)合物的蛋白質(zhì)之一，它對(duì)維持稱為運(yùn)動(dòng)神經(jīng)元的特殊神經(jīng)細(xì)胞很重要。在細(xì)胞中，SMN復(fù)合體在處理mR中起著重要作用。SMN復(fù)合體有助于組裝處理前mR所需的細(xì)胞機(jī)制。SMN復(fù)合物對(duì)于神經(jīng)細(xì)胞（稱為樹突和軸突）的特殊生長(zhǎng)發(fā)育也很重要。SMN1基因的缺失或突變導(dǎo)致全長(zhǎng)SMN蛋白水平降低，并在人類中表現(xiàn)為一系列神經(jīng)肌肉表型，如脊髓性肌萎縮癥（SMA）。
