This protein carries a polyhistidine tag at the C-terminus.

The protein has a calculated MW of 67.3 kDa. The protein migrates as 65 kDa when calibrated against Star Ribbon Pre-stained Protein Marker under reducing (R) condition (SDS-PAGE).

背景（Background）

谷氨酸脫羧酶（GAD）是一種催化谷氨酸脫羧為γ氨基丁酸（GABA）的酶，γ氨基丁酸是高級腦區(qū)的主要抑制性遞質(zhì)，也是胰島中推測的旁分泌激素。GAD使用磷酸吡哆醛（PLP）作為輔因子。GAD的兩種分子形式（65 kDa和67 kDa）高度保守，均在中樞神經(jīng)系統(tǒng)、胰島細(xì)胞、睪丸、輸卵管和卵巢中表達(dá)。這些異構(gòu)體在大鼠和小鼠的大腦中呈區(qū)域性細(xì)胞質(zhì)分布。GAD65是一種ampiphilic，膜錨定蛋白（585 a.a.），負(fù)責(zé)囊泡GABA的產(chǎn)生。GAD67是細(xì)胞質(zhì)（594 a.a.），似乎負(fù)責(zé)大量的細(xì)胞質(zhì)GABA產(chǎn)生。
