Trometamol, or Tris, is a white crystal or powder. Soluble in ethanol and water, slightly soluble in ethyl acetate, benzene, insoluble in ether, carbon tetrachloride, corrosion of copper, aluminum, irritating chemical substances

Trometamol is a biologically inert amino alcohol of low toxicity, which buffers carbon dioxide and acids in vitro and in vivo. Trometamol is an effective amine compound for pH control in the physiological range.

Use

It is a sodium-free amino buffer base, reacts with H2CO3 in body fluids, reduces H2CO3, and generates HCO32-, which can take up hydrogen ions and correct acidemia, its effect is strong, and can penetrate cell membranes, often used in acute metabolic and respiratory acidemia.
