1. Octadecyl alcohol can be used instead of hexadecane alcohol, such as as a dispersant in pharmaceuticals, as a cream and emulsifier in cosmetics, and as a rice insulation agent, reservoir covering agent, defoamer, polish agent, lubricant, etc. Octadecyl alcohol can be used in the production of flat additive, resin and synthetic rubber, color film, etc. The antioxidant 1076 (2082-79-3) was prepared by reacting octadecyl alcohol with β-(3, 5-di-tert-butyl-4-hydroxyphenyl) methyl propionate at 130℃ for 2-3h with sodium methanol as catalyst and dimethyl sulfoxide as solvent. This is an excellent non-polluting non-toxic antioxidant, widely used in polyolefin, polyamide, polyester, polyvinyl chloride, polystyrene, ABS resin to expand a variety of rubber petroleum products.

2. It can be used instead of hexadecyl alcohol as an additive for oil-based fracturing fluids. Stearyl alcohol can be used in the production of flat, resin and synthetic rubber, color film color modifier.

3. Used as chromatographic reagent. Also used as surfactants, lubricants. For organic synthesis.
