Acedoben (4-acetamidobenzoic acid) is a chemical compound with the molecular formula of C9H9NO3. It is the acetyl derivative of para-aminobenzoic acid (PABA).
Acedoben is a component of some pharmaceutical preparations including inosine pranobex.

Production method

Method 1: Obtained from p-aminobenzoic acid by acetylation. Dissolve p-aminobenzoic acid in ethyl acetate, add aceticanhydride under stirring, and the temperature rises to 70℃. It is then cooled, filtered, washed twice, and crystallized withethanol.

Method 2: Using p-toluidine as raw material, it was obtained by acetylation and oxidation. Acetic anhydride is still used asraw material for acetylation, potassium permanganate is used for oxidation, and the oxidation temperature is 60-70℃.
