Phenylethyl resorcinol is an effective whitening ingredient developed by Symrise, which has a strong antioxidant effect and strongly inhibits the activity of tyrosinase, thereby reducing the production of melanin. Skin tests showed that 377 at 0.5% concentration was more effective than kojic acid at 1% concentration without exposure to Chemicalbook light. In 2012, China Food and Drug Administration (SFDA) approved phenylethylresorcinol as a cosmetic raw material for use in cosmetics.
