Indications: Fondaparinux sodium is used for the prevention of venous thromboembolism in patients undergoing major lower limb orthopedic surgery such as hip fracture, major knee surgery, or hip replacement. It is also used for the treatment of unstable angina or non-ST elevation myocardial infarction patients who are not candidates for urgent (<120 minutes) invasive treatment (PCI). Additionally, it is used for the treatment of ST elevation myocardial infarction patients who are not receiving thrombolytic therapy or initial reperfusion therapy in any other form.
