Character: Grey black powder. The relative density of 6.45. Soluble in acid but not in water, alcohol and ammonia. It can be easily reduced to metallic cobalt by the carbon monoxide. Easy to get a variety of pigments when reacts with silica, alumina or zinc oxide in high temperature.


Application:
1. Paint additives. Cobalt oxide added in the various paints can let it dry quickly which is helpful for the rapid construction.

2. Enamel and ceramic pigments. Improve the anti-corrosion and abrasion resistance capability when added to enamel materials. In a variety of building materials and household ceramics, the ceramic products smeared by the blue pigments or glaze  made by the Cobalt oxide showing a bright color after roasting, which looks more artistic.

3. As catalyst in refined petroleum field.
4. Battery industry. As a kind of high performance battery additives, it has a significant effect to improve electrode performance. Cobalt oxide is also the raw material of electrode material for lithium ion battery.
