1.What is H-C-G ?

H-C-G   is a "pregnancy test" hormone commonly used by doctors at secondary six fertility centres. All H-C-G  is produced by the syncytiotrophoblast of the placental chorionic membrane. Its main function is to stimulate the corpus luteum, which is conducive to the continuous secretion of estrogen and progesterone, in order to promote the formation of decidua and make the placenta grow and mature.

2.What is it used for?

H-C-G has been used:

• to induce oocyte maturation in cultured follicles

• along with pregnant mare serum gonadotro-pin (PMSG) to induce superovulation in mice

• as medium component for fetal testes culture to aid steroidogenic responsiveness

Choriogonadot-ropin alfa is obtained by rDNA technology and is biologically and chemically identical to H-C-G  of natural origin. It is used, like H-C-G of natural origin, for inducing ovulation in women with anovulatory infertility. Following proper pretreatment with a GnRH antagonist or superagonist to desensitize the pituitary, women participating in ART are treated with a folliclestimulating agent (e.g., menotropins) to effect the final maturation of the follicles within the ovaries. Ultrasonograms are used to determine proper follicle maturation before the administration of choriogona-dotropin alfa to induce ovulation. A distinct advantage of this product is that it can be self-administered by the patient via SC injection.

3.What are the specifications of this product?
