Niacinamide

Shape: white crystalline powder; Odorless or almost odorless, bitter in taste. Soluble in water or ethanol, soluble in glycerol.

Mechanism of action:

Nicotinamide has a weak anti-inflammatory effect on acne and pemphigoid lesions, and has an antioxidant effect by eliminating free radicals. H.Takiwaki et al. reported that topical anti-inflammatory drugs such as corticosteroids or indomethacin can reduce UV-induced erythema and subsequent pigmentation. It is conceivable that nicotinamide may act as an anti-inflammatory agent or oxidant to inhibit the signaling pathway from keratinocytes to melanocytes. Interestingly, niacinamide was seen to reduce microvesicles, but did not reduce or delay erythema. Although the mechanism of skin whitening by topical application of nicotinamide is unclear, several explanations exist. One of them is the loss of melanin due to accelerated skin replacement. Given the biological role of nicotinamide as a precursor of NADP and NADPH, it can be used as an energy source for cell metabolism in the basal layer of the skin. Regardless of the mechanism of this increase, it is conceivable that the skin changes faster than the base emollient control, thus accelerating the whitening effect.

How to use: It is effective in treating seborrheic dermatitis and eczema. It can whiten and activate skin cells.

Reference dosage: general dosage is 0.5% ~ 2%, less than 1% has higher stability and safety.
