Chemical properties Methyl pentinic acid is a colorless liquid with fragrance J, b.p.62 ～ 68 ℃/2 × 103pa, insoluble in water, easily soluble in organic solvents such as alcohols, ethers, and esters.
Usage: Methyl pentenate, namely, methyl 3,3-dimethylpentene [4] acid, is an important intermediate of pyrethroid, and can be used to synthesize methyl dichloroethrin and trifluoromethrin.

The preparation method of the production method is to put 3-methyl-2-butenol, trimethyl orthoacetate, and catalyst phenol into a reaction pot, stir while heating to 95 ℃ for 2-3 hours to remove methanol, and then heat to 140 ℃ within 1 hour to remove unreacted trimethyl orthoacetate. After reacting at this temperature for 20 hours, methanol was evaporated while reacting until no methanol was evaporated. The reaction was completed, and the reaction liquid was transferred to a distillation pot. The fraction at 70 to 71 ℃/8.00 kPa was collected by reduced pressure distillation, producing methyl pentinic acid in a yield of 84%.
